Home Start Cymru Launches Festive Gift Appeal 2023 to Help Families in Need
No child deserves to wake up without a gift this festive season. But for many families pushed into poverty by the cost-of-living crisis, this could be a harsh reality.
As parents choose between paying their energy bills or buying food, festive gifts become an unaffordable luxury. Home Start Cymru, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing support and assistance to families in need across Wales, is launching its Festive Gift Appeal to spread some much-needed joy and cheer this holiday season.
Jayne Drummond, CEO of Home Start Cymru, says:
“Each festive season, we organise gifts to be donated, sorted, and delivered to our supported families. This year, our Gift Appeal is needed more than ever. We’re all facing a harsher winter this year, with household living expenses escalating but we hope that the spirit of the season is alive. With the help of generous organisations, groups, and individuals, we can help others in need! Let’s come together and deliver the magic to children across Wales.”
Through the Festive Gift Appeal, Home Start Cymru is seeking the support of businesses, individuals, and organisations to donate new and unwrapped gifts for infants, children and young people, including toys, books, clothing, and toiletries. The donated gifts will be sorted, wrapped and delivered by the Home Start Cymru volunteers to our families.
“This is a chance to spread joy and bring happiness to Children in our local communities,” says Jayne Drummond.
“The impact of this gesture is not just for the children who receive the gift, but also for their parents, who will be able to provide gifts that they may not otherwise be able to give.”
“We cannot do this alone. Our goal is to provide hundreds of gifts and we are looking for partners and supporters to join us in this effort,” adds Jayne.

Let’s spread the holiday spirit and make sure every child in Wales has a gift to open this festive season.
