What is the campaign about?
We’re launching our “Because Childhood Can’t Wait – Help Families in Need this Christmas” donation appeal, running from 20 November to 10 December, to support families who are struggling to make ends meet. Many are facing incredibly tough choices between paying bills and buying food, and our collective support can provide the relief and hope they so desperately need, since many families rely on this help now and throughout the year.
Many families in Wales will soon be forced to choose between paying their energy bills or buying food, leaving little room for anything extra.
Each year, our appeal provides essential support to families in need, and this year, your donations are more important than ever. With the cost of living continuing to rise, families are facing a particularly difficult season, and your generosity can make a real difference, since they need help now and beyond today.
Thousands of families in Wales are struggling. Around 40% of children under five live in poverty, 20% of households can’t afford enough food, and nearly half face fuel poverty. Home-Start Cymru’s appeal provides warmth, support, and hope to those who need it most.
With the help of kind organisations, groups, and individuals, we can bring hope and comfort to families across Wales now and throughout the year.
What will the money be used for?
All the money raised will go towards funding more support for families across Wales. Your donations could help us to fund:
£250 will allow for 1:1 family support for a whole month.
£48 will help train a volunteer to be there for struggling families when they need us most.
£22 will help us recruit more volunteers, so that Home-Starts can reach more families.
£30 will buy a winter uniform for a school aged child.
£18 will mean one hour of volunteer training.
£12 will mean an hour of 1:1 family support.
£11 will help a family buy school shoes for a child.
£5 will buy a small Christmas present for a child this Christmas.
