Home-Start Cymru Launches 2025/26 Impact Report
Supporting more than 1,100 families across Wales and helping children get the best start in life
Home-Start Cymru is proud to launch its 2025/26 Impact Report, celebrating another year of supporting families across Wales through trusted, volunteer-led early intervention and family support services.
The report highlights the growing need facing families and the difference that compassionate, relationship-based support can make during some of life’s most challenging moments.
Over the past year, Home-Start Cymru supported 1,153 families and 2,220 children across Wales through a range of services delivered in homes, community settings and family groups.
The report also demonstrates the positive impact support has on family wellbeing, confidence and resilience:
- 84% of parents reported improved wellbeing
- 84% experienced improvements in their mental health
- 75% felt better able to manage physical health challenges
- 83% increased their confidence managing household finances
- 87% reported stronger family relationships
- 87% felt better able to cope with day-to-day challenges
- 72% felt more connected to their local community
The impact on children was equally significant:
- 85% showed improvements in emotional wellbeing
- 88% experienced improved support for their physical health
- 67% demonstrated increased school readiness
- 50% improved speech and language development
The report also highlights the importance of early years support. Over the last three years, Home-Start Cymru has supported 2,265 families, including 1,247 families with children under five, helping parents build confidence and strengthen the foundations for their children’s future development.
Volunteers at the Heart of Our Work
At the heart of Home-Start Cymru’s success are its dedicated volunteers, who provide practical and emotional support to families when they need it most.
Through regular visits, encouragement and a listening ear, volunteers help reduce isolation, build confidence and create lasting positive change.
The report features inspiring stories from families and volunteers, including Diana, who described volunteering as giving her “a sense of purpose”, and parents who shared how Home-Start Cymru helped them navigate challenges such as postnatal depression, domestic abuse, isolation and neurodivergence.

As demand for family support continues to grow, Home-Start Cymru remains committed to working alongside families, communities and partners to ensure every child has the best start in life.
